ABOUT US

Founder: Lucinda Lourens (M.Sc Dietetics)

I have always considered myself as a “fixer”. Finding solutions for nutrition-related problems for better outcome and improving quality of life is my mission. I have a holistic way of thinking and working and believe that neuro-disabilities should all be treated in a team of healthcare professionals, where nutrition forms the foundation of each treatment plan.

I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA), American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and the Southern African Academy of Childhood Disability (SA-ChilD) which is a member of the International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD). I have also recently been invited to become part of PICNNIC (Promoting International Collaboration for Nutrition in Neurological Impairment in Children) and the first member from Africa to join this team of international experts.

I am a mother of three incredible children and I have been a registered dietitian for over 13 years. I completed my Master’s degree in dietetics, particularly in the field of pediatric cerebral palsy. My career path has moved from working in the government sector to the private sector, as well as gaining experience from the pharmaceutical industry.

Being involved in special needs nutrition has been one of the most fulfilling purposes in my life. Whether it is a parent, facility or healthcare professional seeking advice, I go beyond great efforts to assist with the best possible solutions to ultimately reach their goals. I have extensively researched how nutrients affect various neuro-disabilities in the pediatric population. I have therefore become more focussed on presenting workshops and courses for both public and private sectors on Cerebral Palsy and other fields of specialised nutrition such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome and Prader-Willi Syndrome. I also serve as expert medico-legal witness in medical malpractice litigation. My heart lies in the fields of both neuro-disabilities and critical care for the pediatric population.
